In 1987, the Labour Court left unchanged a Rights Commissioner's recommendation that E. Fanning & Company Limited pay £750 each to a driver and helper who lost regular overtime. Its decision was signed on 7 September 1987, after an appeal by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union. The union said the driver's annual loss was £1,500 to £2,000 and sought compensation equal to twice the annual loss. The company said the business changes were beyond its control and offered £100 each. The Court found no grounds to alter the recommendation.
