The Labour Court rejected the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union's appeal on behalf of a worker at Roadstone Provinces Limited, upholding a Rights Commissioner's recommendation on lost overtime and travel allowances. The union sought compensation for lost earnings, allowances and overtime, as well as retrospective payment of the difference between grades. The company said a recession had reduced overtime and that travel allowances were no longer payable because the worker no longer needed to travel to other locations. The Court said the worker's conditions had worsened through no fault of his own or management, and that management should make every effort to restore him to grade 1 as soon as possible. The decision was signed on 15 June 1987.
