The Labour Court referred a worker’s appeal over access to An Post’s exit scheme to a Monitoring Committee for determination. The decision was signed on 11 March 2015. The worker said his job was primarily that of a postal operative and that he qualified for the scheme. An Post said he was a Working Leader and that there was no surplus staffing in that grade in Cork. The Rights Commissioner had not supported the claim. The Court said the dispute should be resolved by the committee under the relevant agreements. If the committee found the issue unsuitable for it to determine, the parties could return to the Court for a definitive decision.
