The Labour Court recommended that a worker at Galway - Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) be paid at Grade III Clerical Officer level. The decision was signed on 16 October 2015, following an appeal by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The union had sought Grade IV after the worker transferred roles. Management said the new position did not warrant a higher grade and considered Grade III appropriate. The Court found that the worker’s duties were appropriate to Grade III and recommended that she be paid accordingly from the date of its recommendation.
