The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal over a worker’s finishing allowance at Kingspan Environmental (Ireland) Ltd T/A Titan Environments. The Court left the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation unchanged. The decision was signed on 12 October 2015. The union said the worker had received a €17.50 weekly allowance for years and sought its restoration after the company changed the payment method to €3.50 per day while he was assigned to finishing duties. The company said the allowance was payable only for days spent in that role and the worker was not then doing that work. The Court found that the worker was being treated in the same manner as other staff and found no basis to set aside or vary the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation.
