The Labour Court disallowed a worker’s appeal over his salary scale at Iarnrod Eireann and affirmed the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation. The decision was signed on 22 May 2015. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, argued that Iarnrod Eireann had applied its promotion policy incorrectly and sought pay parity and retrospective pay. The company said he had been paid appropriately. The Court found that Iarnrod Eireann had treated him in line with a known July 2003 memo. It also found that a comparator was invalid because he had been redeployed after his former role became surplus and was red-circled.
