The Labour Court recommended a 2.5% pay increase for two Bord Na Mona employees, backdated to 1 May 2013, partly upholding their appeal. The decision was signed on 18 February 2014. The employees, represented by Unite the Union, said their personal contracts entitled them to the increase awarded to the general workforce. Bord Na Mona argued that a company-wide pay freeze meant no increase was due. The Court found that the contracts required an increase of at least the amount awarded to the general workforce and overturned the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation against the claim.
