The Labour Court rejected a Limerick City Council worker’s appeal over access to the council’s occupational injury benefit scheme. The decision was dated 31 March 2014. The union argued that the worker’s absence should qualify for the scheme. The council said the scheme covered firefighters injured in the line of duty and that the worker had received full sick pay. The Court found the union’s claim was not well founded and rejected the appeal.
