The Labour Court upheld a retired An Post worker’s claim for retrospective Parcel Productivity Allowance after his promotion, varying a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation in a decision dated 3 January 2014. The worker said former colleagues in similar grades had kept the allowance and that he had pursued backdated payment for 13 years. An Post argued payment would give him much higher income than colleagues and could affect future claims. The Court noted inconsistent practice across An Post departments and its plan to standardise payments, which it said should happen within six months.
