The Labour Court upheld the Rights Commissioner’s decision that a worker’s claim against Dublin City Council was not well founded. The worker had appealed the finding that the Council did not have to arrange a promotion interview while he was on annual leave. The decision was signed on 25 November 2013. The union said the worker had been a loyal employee for almost 30 years and that the Council should have contacted him to arrange an interview. The Council argued that candidates had to attend at the scheduled time and that it could not accommodate every request to change an interview date.
