The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal over pay-scale placement and sick-pay entitlements, upholding a Rights Commissioner’s finding that the dispute concerned a group of workers’ pay rates. The decision was signed on 20 November 2013. Shannon Airport Authority (Formerly DAA PLC) argued that the workers had acted collectively over pay. The worker said the claims were brought individually. The Court found that the dispute concerned a body of workers acting in concert and could have broader implications. It held that it was precluded from hearing the case under section 13(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1969; the merits of the pay claim were not decided.
