The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner's recommendation in a dispute over Pfizer (Ireland) Trading As Wyeth Nutritionals' reduced long-service award scheme, dated 31 October 2013. A worker represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said he expected a €1,250 voucher, a €70 gift and a €150 dinner voucher on reaching 30 years' service. The company said it reduced the scheme for all affected employees as part of cost-saving restructuring, and that the scheme was discretionary rather than contractual. The Court found the worker had been treated no differently from other staff affected by the change.
