The Labour Court upheld a €5,000 compensation recommendation for a worker who claimed unfair dismissal by Christopher & Margaret Dowler T/A Dowler's Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Its decision was dated 29 October 2013, following the employer’s appeal. The employer said the worker had behaved aggressively towards staff, been rude to customers and stopped coming to work without explanation. The Court found he was dismissed without access to procedures meeting the standards in Statutory Instrument No 146/2000. It found the dismissal unfair and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation for €5,000 compensation.
