The Labour Court rejected a Galway County Council worker’s appeal against a recommendation that he transfer to a new base. The decision was signed on 3 October 2013. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said personal circumstances meant he should stay at his current location and that other suitably skilled staff could transfer instead. Galway County Council said it had tried to accommodate him but could not do so within its available resources. The Court found no viable alternative to the move at that time. It urged both sides to keep exploring the worker’s concerns at the three-month review recommended earlier by the Rights Commissioner.
