Labour Court grants airport worker payment for 35.5 days’ leave in lieu

The Labour Court allowed the union’s appeal and varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation, finding that a worker was entitled to payment for 35.5 days of leave in lieu for additional hours worked between 2009 and 2011. The decision was signed on 3 October 2013. The worker, represented by the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union, had sought payment from Corrib Airport T/A Galway Airport. The employer did not attend the hearing. The Court accepted the union’s uncontested submissions.
