The Labour Court upheld a final written warning issued by Is Varian & Company Limited to a worker after the company appealed a Rights Commissioner recommendation. The decision was signed on 28 August 2013. The dispute followed a dispatch of goods to a client without accompanying documentation. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, argued that the procedures were not formal written rules; the company said the worker knew the documentation requirements. The company was prepared to withdraw the two-week suspension. After the warning expires, the Court said the company should assign comparable alternative duties and resume the €9-per-day allowance, or make another arrangement about its continuation or discontinuation.
