The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and awarded a worker €10,000 compensation on her appeal against An Bord Altranis. The decision was signed on 11 April 2013. The dispute arose during the winding up of the NCNM and transfer of its functions and staff to An Bord Altranis. The worker said consultation about redeployment was inadequate and that events undermined her personal and professional standing. An Bord Altranis said it discussed HSE redeployment options with her, but the proposed role later ceased to exist after the section outsourced its work. The Rights Commissioner found a breakdown in communication and said the worker should receive an immediate written apology over a forged signature on her contract. The Labour Court agreed with those findings and concluded that she should be compensated for the substantial wrongs she suffered.
