The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and directed Kilanerin National School to classify a worker as full-time. The decision was signed on 14 January 2013. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, worked 28 hours a week as a Special Needs Assistant. The union argued those hours should count as full-time; the school said the Department of Education and Skills determined the classification. The Court noted that the school opened for slightly more than 28 hours a week and found that the worker could properly be described as full-time.
