Labour Court upholds €50-a-fortnight repayment recommendation against North Tipperary County Council worker

The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that a worker repay North Tipperary County Council an allowance overpayment at €50 per fortnight. Its decision was dated 13 November 2012. The worker argued that the council was responsible for the error and should not seek repayment. The council said it had overpaid expenses and sought to recover the money through a salary deduction. The Court found that Circular 03/2009 required local authorities to reduce travel and subsistence allowances and related allowances, and upheld the recommendation.
