The Labour Court declined to recommend conceding a worker’s claim that she was unfairly denied promotion by Galway Citizens Information Service. The decision was dated 11 July 2012. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said she had performed Information Officer duties for several years and that the employer failed to consider her experience, skills and competencies. Galway Citizens Information Service said it advertised the post and used an experienced interview panel. The Court found the selection process was properly conducted and the result was not irrational.
