Labour Court recommends washing allowance for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council worker

By Aoife Loughran

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court recommended that a worker at Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council receive the washing and greasing allowance from 2 July 2012, but did not recommend back pay or a change to holiday pay calculations. The recommendation was dated 2 July 2012. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said colleagues in similar roles received the allowance and that regular rostered overtime should count towards holiday pay. The Council said the worker was treated consistently and the allowance work was done during normal hours. The Court recommended that he receive the allowance from the recommendation date, be treated like others in similar circumstances and join ongoing discussions about the matter.
