Labour Court sets aside €1,000 recommendation after employer’s appeal

The Labour Court allowed PC More Enterprises Ltd T/A John J Whitmore Jewellers’ appeal and set aside a Rights Commissioner’s €1,000 recommendation to a worker. The decision was signed on 19 June 2012. The worker had claimed compensation for unfair treatment during his employment and at its end. He did not attend the first Labour Court hearing. The Court allowed the appeal because no evidence was presented in support of his claim; the merits were not decided.
