The Labour Court varied a recommendation against a worker and directed LM Ericsson Ltd to move him to the midpoint of its Master Engineer salary scale, understood to be about €61,000. The decision was dated 14 May 2012. The worker appealed after claiming that the company's failure to provide annual appraisals caused him financial loss. The company said his salary had been reviewed through national wage agreements and that he reached Master Engineer level later than the colleagues he compared himself with. The Court found he was entitled to an appraisal in 2002, but it was not carried out then or later. It said he had suffered financially and was entitled to redress. The salary-scale move included a sum in lieu of retrospection.
