The Labour Court allowed the HSE’s appeal and set aside a recommendation that a Grade VI Ambulance Officer receive four increments for acting-up service from June 2004 to May 2008. The decision was signed on 30 April 2012. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said colleagues in similar roles had received incremental credit. The HSE argued he had received an acting-up allowance and was not entitled to increments. The Court found no basis to depart from normal practice in his case, but directed management to explain the different treatment of staff in HR and Finance.
