The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal and upheld a recommendation for changes to how managers discuss performance issues with employees. The decision was signed on 11 July 2011. The worker, who was represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said management spoke to him unacceptably and threatened disciplinary action. P & G Manufacturing Limited said a quality issue caused €33,000 in waste and that six workers were spoken to informally. The Rights Commissioner had recommended one-to-one conversations about performance and support for an employee when two managers wished to speak with them. The Labour Court found that changes introduced by the company addressed the concerns and upheld that recommendation.
