Labour Court backs conditional HSE West recommendation on staff nurse’s post

The Labour Court affirmed a recommendation that HSE West seek ministerial approval and funding to appoint an anonymised staff nurse permanently at CNM II level, with a modification. The decision was signed on 4 March 2011. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had performed FETAC course facilitator duties in an acting CNM II capacity since 2005. The Court said HSE West should implement the recommendation if approval and funding were secured, and also consider whether clause 6 of its circular offered another way to fill the post.
