The Labour Court allowed B Braun Hospicare’s appeal and set aside a recommendation to reduce a worker’s first written warning to a verbal warning. The employer said the worker took a week of annual leave without approval. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said management first told her she could take annual leave after refusing floating leave, then withdrew that offer after she had made holiday arrangements. The Court did not regard the company’s decision to issue the written warning as unreasonable. The decision was signed on 3 June 2010.
