The Labour Court upheld a €5,000 payment to an unnamed team leader at Athlone Extrusions Limited after both sides appealed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation. The Court signed its decision on 22 October 2009. The worker said he had worked regular overtime for more than six years and that losing it had substantially reduced his take-home pay. The company argued the overtime pattern was excessive and said the worker had been dismissed for gross negligence. The Court left the €5,000 payment in place as full and final settlement of the claim.
