Labour Court upholds €3,000 recommendation to Tesco Ireland worker

The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that Tesco Ireland pay a worker €3,000 for specialist Systems Checker duties at its Balbriggan store. The decision was signed on 6 October 2009. The Court accepted that the store’s circumstances were unique and justified the one-off payment. The worker had performed the more demanding duties since 2005, while Tesco Ireland said a 2000 agreement limited the payment to named Systems Checkers and excluded replacements.
