Labour Court upholds recommendation on P.W.A International dismissal

The Labour Court confirmed the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation in favour of P.W.A International Ltd on a worker’s dismissal. The decision was signed on 13 July 2009. The worker said he did not know he had to keep providing medical certificates after company sick pay stopped and that depression and anxiety made it difficult to engage with the company. P.W.A International Ltd said the dismissal followed unauthorised absence, lack of communication and failure to return social welfare payments. The Court preferred the company’s case.
