The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on Boots Retail (Ireland) Limited’s appeal, replacing a €1,000 compensation recommendation with a direction to meet with the worker. The decision was signed on 26 January 2009. The worker, an operations assistant in Boots’ Liffey Valley cash office, received a final written warning after €150 was left out at a till. She accepted the money had been left aside but said a colleague unfamiliar with the procedures was responsible. The Court said some sanction was merited but substituted a verbal warning lasting six months. It directed Boots to meet promptly with the worker, and her chosen representative if she wished, to seek an assignment in the store suited to her experience and service.
