The Labour Court dismissed a worker’s appeal over a travel allowance paid by Limerick County Council, affirming the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation. The decision was signed on 15 June 2009. The worker sought retrospective payment from 30 September 2005, arguing that the allowance covered additional travel between Limerick and Newcastle West. Management said it was intended to support relocation and could end once the worker moved to Newcastle West. The Court found the allowance had been paid because the worker was required to travel to Newcastle West, and that justification ended after she relocated there.
