The Labour Court upheld a €7,500 compensation recommendation to a worker after Monaghan County Council appealed. The decision was signed on 14 May 2009. The worker said the Council failed to provide a reference in the required format for a permanent job offer, and she did not secure the position. The Council said her short period of employment made it difficult to complete the prospective employer’s form accurately. The Rights Commissioner had recommended compensation for the worker’s financial loss, stress and hardship, and the Labour Court confirmed the recommendation.
