The Labour Court upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and dismissed a chargehand’s appeal over a verbal warning from Trinity College Dublin. The decision was signed on 23 March 2009. The unnamed worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, was a chargehand in the Catering Department. She denied using an offensive management style and said management had failed to act on health and safety concerns she raised. Trinity College Dublin said it had received complaints about how she spoke to staff and had raised concerns informally before issuing the warning. The Rights Commissioner had found management had legitimate concerns and had followed proper procedures in raising them with her.
