The Labour Court endorsed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on a worker’s access to Curragh Tintawn Carpets’ Medical Advisors Scheme after retirement. The decision was signed on 17 June 2008. The Rights Commissioner found no automatic right to continued access after age 66 and recommended negotiations on fair and transparent criteria. The union appealed, saying the company had refused to engage. The Labour Court said the hearing concerned implementation of a recommendation that appeared initially to have been accepted by both sides, and urged them to renew discussions toward its full implementation.
