The Labour Court overturned a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and awarded a worker €7,500 in full and final settlement of his claim against DePaul Trust Ireland Limited. The Court’s decision was dated 30 May 2008. The union appealed on the worker’s behalf, saying his pay was reduced without discussion when he returned to a coordinator and receptionist role. DePaul Trust said his higher salary reflected the more demanding duties and unsocial hours of an assistant project worker. The Court found conflicting information about his position in 2004 and said his duties were not akin to those of a project worker.
