The Labour Court recommended appointing an arbitrator to assess outstanding damages and expenses in a worker’s bullying dispute with Green Isle Foods. The recommendation was dated 3 March 2008, following the worker’s appeal of a Rights Commissioner recommendation that the company had acted fairly and compassionately. The worker, represented by SIPTU, alleged persistent bullying by managers and co-workers, and said complaints against management were not properly investigated. Green Isle Foods denied bullying and said it had handled complaints appropriately and supported the worker while he was off sick. The Court recommended appointing Michael Cahill as arbitrator, with the parties to accept his findings in full and final settlement.
