Labour Court upholds return-to-work recommendation for nurse at HSE (South)

The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation after a union appealed on behalf of a nurse at HSE (South). In a decision dated 18 December 2007, the Court upheld the recommendation that the nurse be facilitated back to work as soon as possible under relevant procedures. The dispute concerned a return-to-nursing-practice course required before the nurse could resume work. The union said the course’s content and duration did not reflect her experience; management said it was following An Bord Altranais guidance and did not contest the appeal.
