The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation in a dispute over salary deductions from two Irish Blood Transfusion Service workers’ lump-sum compensation for lost overtime. The decision was signed on 21 February 2007. The Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept the Service’s offer of an independent auditor to identify each worker’s compensation, excluding time-off-in-lieu hours and counting only actual earnings paid during the reference period. If the audit found further amounts due, the parties should meet locally to discuss repayment.
