The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation of €1,200 gross compensation to a sales assistant at Caulfield & Sinnott Ltd T/A Centra Shop & Service Station. The decision was dated 30 November 2007. The recommendation covered annual leave payments, unfair dismissal and one week’s notice. The worker appealed, saying the compensation was inadequate and raising Sunday pay, overtime and a week in arrears from a previous employer. The Court found the payslips showed the appropriate Sunday and overtime premiums had been paid, and the company confirmed the arrears were paid on 20 November 2007. It declined to increase the award.
