The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that HSE Southern Area stop interviewing candidates for more than one competition at a time, but rejected an appeal seeking €7,000 compensation and an apology for a worker who said she was unfairly treated in a promotion interview. The Court’s decision was dated 21 March 2007. The Irish Nurses Organisation said the simultaneous interviews disadvantaged the worker and harmed her career development. HSE Southern Area said candidates were treated fairly and that the practice was consistent with normal practice. The Court found that the interview procedures did not disadvantage the appellant or treat her unfairly. It also noted the HSE’s commitment to stop holding interviews for multiple competitions at the same time.
