The Labour Court recommended that Athlone Institute Of Technology implement findings on management roles and conflict-resolution training after an assistant lecturer complained about how her allegations against her Head of Department were investigated. The decision was dated 26 July 2006. The lecturer said the Head of Department had tried to sabotage her research project and maligned her to other academics. The Institute said it had addressed the complaint through its policy and an independent enquiry. The Court noted that the external investigator found in her favour regarding her management of the project, while both investigations identified unclear management roles and a need for training. The Court also recommended that the worker accept that her complaint had been fully investigated. The Head of Department was not a party to the Labour Court investigation.
