The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that Dakota Packaging Limited pay a worker €2,100 as a goodwill gesture, while rejecting his claim for redundancy pay. The decision was dated 17 July 2006. The worker said he had applied for redundancy and been given payment figures. The company said it had not accepted him for redundancy. The Court found there was no evidence of acceptance or compliance with the termination procedures, and that the worker left voluntarily for another job. The Court recommended that the goodwill payment be made in full and final settlement of the claim.
