The Labour Court awarded a worker €2,000 in full and final settlement of his dispute with John Wyeth & Brother Limited. It upheld the finding that he had not established entitlement to the company’s redundancy package. The decision was dated 12 June 2006. The worker, a driver and warehousing operative in Ballymount for more than eight years, said he sought redundancy before resigning to relocate to Kerry. The union said the company later proposed redundancies in his section and had known about outsourcing plans for months. The company said he resigned voluntarily before it announced its outsourcing proposal. The Court said events between the company and union had not helped the worker’s situation and subsequent unemployment, and awarded the €2,000 settlement.
