The Labour Court varied a recommendation concerning a part-time school bus driver at Bus Eireann, retaining €3,000 compensation and adding an opportunity to become a full-time driver if she met the required standard. The decision was dated 25 July 2005. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had claimed discrimination in the filling of regular driver positions. The union appealed, saying the recommendation did not address her path to full-time work under the vacancy-filling agreement and that her losses were about €7,133. Bus Eireann said she did not qualify for the role. The Court said its decision was based on the unique circumstances of the case and was not a precedent.
