The Labour Court increased compensation to €2,000 for a worker dismissed without proper procedures and not paid notice, allowing his appeal of a Rights Commissioner recommendation. The decision was dated 22 March 2005. The worker said later-hired employees were retained and that he was unemployed for about 11 months after his dismissal. Quick Stream Couriers Limited said he was employed by Allbritton Holdings, which ceased trading in June 2004, and declined an invitation to attend the hearing. The Court increased the earlier €1,000 recommendation, which included one week’s pay in lieu of notice.
