Labour Court varies UCD Farm Steward pay recommendation

The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s pay recommendation for a University College Dublin Farm Steward, setting a TAO grade of €36,662 a year and a personal allowance of €2,812. The decision was dated 14 March 2005. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said his pay should reflect a link to Department of Agriculture grades. UCD, represented by the Irish Business and Employers' Confederation, disputed that link. The Rights Commissioner had recommended a higher grade at €39,474, with the difference paid in two instalments. The Labour Court disallowed both appeals and set the revised terms as full and final settlement.
