The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on Roscommon County Council’s appeal over a Traveller Accommodation Supervisor’s pay. The decision was signed on 9 March 2004. The union had sought parity with 12 General Services Supervisors. The Court found the worker’s post was not sufficiently similar to justify the claimed rate, but that his current pay did not match his duties and no clear agreement on pay had been made when he was appointed. It decided he should receive 85% of the General Services Supervisor rate, retrospectively from 25 February 2002, on a personal-to-holder basis. The recommendation was amended and the Council’s appeal allowed to that extent.
