The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s €500 recommendation to a worker dismissed by Frank McGrath Construction Limited and disallowed the worker’s appeal. The Court dated its decision 25 September 2003. The worker, a bricklayer, said he was dismissed after a union official intervened because he was not a member of the appropriate union. The company said union membership was required for craft workers and that union members at the site refused to work with him. It also said it paid him €600 for the work he completed.
