The Labour Court disallowed a worker’s appeal over his removal from a Barge Operator role at the Sisters Of Charity, affirming the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that his claim failed. The Court’s decision was dated 7 July 2003. The union said he was removed without notice after applying unsuccessfully for a coordinator or manager post and sought reinstatement and €5,000 compensation. The Sisters Of Charity said he had told management he did not wish to remain on the Barge Project. The Court considered the Rights Commissioner’s conclusion reasonable; the requested compensation was not awarded.
